The newly designed Gräfrather Hof**** Hotel
JANUARY 2010
The wait is finally over: The popular Solingen four-star “Gräfrather Hof” hotel has completed the fourth phase of construction after extensive conversion. The “first house” on the Gräfrath Market Square has thereby succeeded not merely in confirming the essence of the historic building but also in blending it harmoniously with the latest internal architecture and a choice exterior.
The Hotel’s reception and lobby were relocated and their exclusive design is impressive. The “FLORIAN” restaurant has become established and delights gourmets in Solingen and the surrounding area with its innovative cuisine and an appealing ambience. The new, exclusive health and fitness area in the basement of the hotel has been completed and offers the highest level of relaxation, and not just to hotel guests. Junior and deluxe suites are currently being built and all 61 rooms are being renovated in contemporary style.
A beautiful ensemble has thus been created for the public, for our guests and for Gräfrath. The investment for conversion work is currently at approx. €1.25 million. A further €1.5 million has already been approved for conversion work in 2010.
Another €425 000 was invested for the completion of the suites alone. All the building work was finished in September of this year, just in time for the 25th anniversary of the founding of the SILAG Handel AG parent company. The Gräfrather Hof now provides permanent jobs for more than 30 staff because of the extensive renovations.
The reduction in VAT from 19% to 7% in the hospitality trade helps to keep the Gräfrather Hof’s prices stable in spite of the high levels of investment. This has meant that associate Siegfried Lapawa has been able to counter an increase in hotel prices and thus offer exclusive accommodation at the price level of a three-star hotel.
