AUGUST 2010 SILAG Han­del AG has put its pho­to­vol­taic sys­tem into ope­ra­ti­on. In Son­ne­feld one of Germany’s lar­gest roof-mounted pho­to­vol­taic sys­tems gene­ra­tes electri­cal ener­gy from the power of the sun. The instal­la­ti­on on the roof area of SILAG Han­del AG offi­cial­ly came into ope­ra­ti­on on 20^th August 2010. AUGUST 2010 Care­er goal: Mer­chant in who­le­sa­le and For­eign Tra­de It has now been exact­ly three years sin­ce Julia Volk­mann (24, from Lan­gen­feld) and Domi­nic Win­ter (27, Lan­gen­feld) both star­ted their trai­ning as mer­chants in who­le­sa­le and for­eign tra­ding on 01.08.2007 with SILAG Han­del AG. Sin­ce then they have suc­cess­ful­ly com­ple­ted their cour­ses: Julia in Febru­a­ry this year – it was pos­si­ble to shor­ten her trai­ning peri­od from the regu­lar three years to two and a half – and Domi­nic has just pas­sed his last exam suc­cess­ful­ly. JULY 2010 The anni­ver­s­a­ry week at Lan­gen­feld Wareh­ouse Sales, which rewar­ded its loy­al cus­to­mers with a 15% reduc­tion on its ent­i­re pro­duct ran­ge from 19^th to 25^th June 2010, was more than suc­cess­ful. With an average of more than 400 paying cus­to­mers per day wit­hin the pro­mo­ti­on peri­od, record sales were regis­tered. Adver­ti­sing to 250 000 house­holds via an XXL leaf­let in the run-up once again pro­ved to be an important and appro­pria­te stra­te­gy. JULY 2010 The third wee­kend of the FIA GT3 Euro­pean Cham­pions­hip in Jara­ma in Spain finis­hed suc­cess­ful­ly for the ADAC GT Mas­ters dri­vers and teams. The race was star­ted on a wet sur­face and was con­trol­led by the two bright-green BMW Alpi­nas from the first lap. At the start, Maxi­me Mar­tin in his first ADAC GT Mas­ters race wres­ted the lead from team-mate Jens Kling­mann. Mar­tin ope­ned up a gap in the first lap on Kling­mann, who was batt­ling with a mis­fi­ring engi­ne, and he han­ded over the B6 while it was in the lead to Clau­dia Hürt­gen. APRIL 2010 SILAG Han­del AG has deve­lo­ped a new water tech­no­lo­gy with a hose-connector sys­tem and has app­lied for a patent for it. It pre­vents hoses from com­ing loo­se from the con­nec­tor after pro­lon­ged use. In this way they do not deve­lop typi­cal wear and this pre­vents the annoy­ing drip­ping of hoses atta­ched to the con­nec­tors.

APRIL 2010 After 12 years in the deve­lo­p­ment, SILAG Han­del AG is clo­se to the imple­men­ta­ti­on of a new cooking-pot tech­no­lo­gy, the “paten­ted Energy-saving Coo­king Pot”. Time, ener­gy and money are saved with the remova­ble locking unit, which fits the various heights of a Silag Hybrid Pot line. A house­hold of four peop­le in Ger­ma­ny will save up to 3.5 kWh dai­ly by using this inno­va­ti­ve tech­no­lo­gy. FEBRUARY 2010 Loca­ted right on the Mar­ket Squa­re in the city cent­re at the Solingen-Mitte bus sta­ti­on, the resi­dence and busi­ness pre­mi­ses built by Juli­us Tück­man­tel in 1892 domi­na­tes the city land­s­cape. It is one of the last lis­ted buil­dings in Solingen’s town cent­re to with­stand the air raids of the Second World War. The new owner, Sieg­fried Lapa­wa, began in 2008 with the exten­si­ve mea­su­res necessa­ry for its struc­tu­ral res­to­ra­ti­on without heed of the cos­ts. FEBRUARY 2010 The SILAG sub­si­dia­ry, “SILAG Objekt Son­ne­feld GmbH” is plan­ning one of the lar­gest roof-mounted pho­to­vol­taic sys­tems in Ger­ma­ny at its site in Son­ne­feld near Coburg in North Fran­co­nia. With a total sur­face area of 70 000 m², the two roofs offer an out­stan­ding oppor­tu­ni­ty for instal­ling a 2.58 MWp solar panel sys­tem. It will gene­ra­te around 2.47 mil­li­on kWh annu­al­ly of envi­ron­ment­al­ly friend­ly electri­ci­ty ther­eby saving more than 2173 ton­nes of CO2.
