Restaurant FLORIAN – the new flagship of the Gräfrather Hof Hotel
May 2009
The “FLORIAN” has been welcoming all guests since the 2nd April. The café with the character of a lounge and bistro is an integral part of the popular four-star “Gräfrather Hof” hotel and is also open to visitors who are not resident in the “main house” on the Gräfrath Market Square.
The “FLORIAN” is a successful fusion of café, bistro and lounge for those who value extraordinary cuisine, high-quality drinks and a relaxed atmosphere. After all, no less a person than the famous TV chef Patrick Jabs gives the orders from behind the ovens in the “FLORIAN’s” kitchen, delighting gourmets in Solingen and the surrounding area with innovative culinary ideas.
In addition, the reception and lobby of the hotel were moved. This created a wonderful ensemble for the public, for guests and for Gräfrath. Other innovations in the hotel such as the 200 m² wellness area in the basement (where there were once strong-rooms and a bowling alley), two luxury junior and deluxe suites in the erstwhile counter hall of the savings bank and the redecoration of all 61 rooms are already planned and will underline the four-star character of the Gräfrather Hof.
The generous function rooms (up to 60 people) of the “Hotel zur Post” purchased with it offer an atmospheric ambience for family celebrations, anniversaries, conferences, seminars and weekend events. The “Hotel zur Post” also offers further accommodation options in the three-star sector. The Gräfrather Hof now employs a total of 18 staff; another eleven jobs were created by the new culinary proposal.
With these innovations and subsequent investment in the complex as a whole of around 2.35 million by March 2010, associate Siegfried Lapawa has been able to create a unique unit around Gräfrath Market Square, which will become the future “gastronomic heart of Solingen”. Further significant investment is planned for the “Hotel zur Post”.
