Photovoltaics – SILAG Handel AG makes an outstanding contribution to environmental protection
FEBRUARY 2010
The SILAG subsidiary, “SILAG Objekt Sonnefeld GmbH” is planning one of the largest roof-mounted photovoltaic systems in Germany at its site in Sonnefeld near Coburg in North Franconia. With a total surface area of 70 000 m², the two roofs offer an outstanding opportunity for installing a 2.58 MWp solar panel system.
It will generate around 2.47 million kWh annually of environmentally friendly electricity thereby saving more than 2173 tonnes of CO2. The system should be in operation by the end of the second quarter of 2010.
The average electricity requirement of a household is 3074 kW/a. (= 803 households; source: IZU Bavaria). The registry office in Sonnefeld confirms that there are 1665 households in Sonnefeld. Our PV system could therefore provide ecological electricity for half of the households in Sonnefeld.
