Germany’s biggest fireworks sale – another complete success in 2010!
DECEMBER 2010
SILAG Warehouse Sales held a great fireworks sale at the end of December 2010 for the second time ─ the biggest in Germany. This again entailed the purchase of great quantities of fireworks and the printing of a leaflet in large numbers to be distributed to households by post. Class II pyrotechnics (New Year’s fireworks) may only be sold from the 29th to 31st of December.
To deal with the surge in demand that experience brought us to expect, the business leadership decided to bring the opening forward to five minutes past midnight in the night of the 28th to 29th December, as in the previous year – a calculated yet still exciting event, coordinated with the authorities.
The first fireworks fans were already waiting patiently for admission in front of the red SILAG sliding doors three hours before the official opening of the sale. Shortly before midnight, this had grown to several hundred people who could hardly wait to buy the much sought-after rockets, bangers and Roman candles. Hearty pea soup with Wienerle sausages served from the field kitchen helped to pass the time spent waiting in the icy cold. Security allowed the crowds into the stores in batches, where about 40 tonnes of the in-demand goods were waiting for purchase.
